On October 19th 2019, the first day of the state of emergency declared by Chilean President Sebastián Piñera, a 36-year-old street performer was arrested at a protest and taken away by members of the Carabineros police force. The next day, her lifeless body was found hanging from a fence in a park with signs of rape and torture. Her name was Daniela Carrasco, known to those who knew her as La Mimo (the Mime).
